Boxed Set Birth

The boxed set of the Parasol Protectorate releases officially today!

All five books in one tidy box!

My first boxed set as a kid was the Chronicles of Narnia. And contrary to most The Horse and His Boy was always my favorite. Then The Complete Anne of Green Gables. Lastly, but certainly not least, I discovered Susan Cooper and the amazing Dark Is Rising Sequence.

Boxed sets somehow represent an iconic moment of maturity for me. I can't remember owning my first book, but my first boxed set was something significant ~ the completeness of it, the tidiness of it. I was old enough to have them all. I was old enough to have lived long enough for the author to have written them all! (You'll have to remember that at this time, life seemed to be an endless wait for the next Tamora Pierce The Song of the Lioness Alanna book.)

I suppose, all I'm trying to say is that I'm excited to have all my books in a tidy little box!

Book News:
Boxed set! Yay!

Quote of the Day:
"That place that does contain
My books, the best companions, is to me
A glorious court, where hourly I converse
With the old sages and philosophers;
And sometimes, for variety, I confer
With kings and emperors, and weigh their counsels;
Calling their victories, if unjustly got,
Unto a strict account, and, in my fancy,
Deface their ill-placed statues."
~ Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher

My darlings please recall, this is my blog and I am goddess of this little corner of the interwebs. You are always welcome to comment, as I am to delete said comments. As my dear mum often murmurers: if you haven't anything nice to say then please don't stay anything at all. Also: Thou shalt not commit Logical Fallacies.

Congratulations on "being boxed"!

I am very glad to see this achievement and am proud along with you. I adore your books and have planned to read them again.
Congratulations on your box set! It looks beautiful - so beautiful that I kind of want to give my books to someone and buy the box set for myself!! ;)

(As an aside, I believe my first box set was also Narnia :))
A box set! Exciting!

If I didn't have all the books already, I'd love to own the box set.
I too love Tamora Pierce :) Box sets truly are wonderful, aren't they? The box itself is both decoration and protection for the contents, and then everything you wanted to read in the series in question is just there, and ready for the taking!

I got my first box set at the same time I got my second. I managed to obtain Magic Knight Rayearth manga sets :)
